Building the Ministries of Christ Church
At Christ Church, the worship of God revealed in Christ begins in the quiet of 8 A.M. each Sunday, and continues at our 10 A.M. service with a growing number of adults joined at the Peace by a wave of children from our ever-expanding Sunday School.
Our attendance this summer increased 10%, and our most recent Sunday showed a 17% increase over last year. We continue to see new visitors every Sunday, some looking for a new church home. Our Newcomers Committee has been successfully following up with visitors – responding to their questions and helping them find their way to regular participation in the life of Christ Church.
We now have two choirs rehearsing on Thursdays – our faithful adult choir and the new choristers program for younger singers. This summer for the first time we had a Youth Music Camp and Vacation Bible School providing a great start for our Choristers and Sunday School programs this September.
This year our households pledging towards Christ Church’s operating expenses increased by 15% in number and 30% in total giving from 2010, and pledged contributions continue to be 3.8% ahead of budget.
Our Ministry Goals for 2012
The 2012 every member campaign is not all about pledging to a fixed operating budget; it places before us a wonderful opportunity to further God’s mission through Christ Church.
With Christ Church’s growth and your help, we have the opportunity to continue building the quality and reach of our worship, education, and outreach through the following opportunities:
1. Continue to support and expand a Sunday School program that draws new families into our fellowship.
2. Continue to build and enhance our music program by attracting gifted Music Directors from Yale’s Institute for Sacred Music as we have done very successfully. If funds allowed, we could add the support of special instrumentalists and choir section leaders.
3. Create the opportunity for a seminarian to minister with us.
4. Build a more comprehensive outreach commitment.
5. Continue to support and enhance the maintenance of our historic buildings.
