Fellowship

Coffee Hour

At Christ Church, we share fellowship during coffee hour after the 10 a.m. service on Sundays in our Parish Hall. We ask our parishioners to volunteer host the coffee hour.

The coffee and pots are stored in the Parish Hall, so all coffee hour hosts have to do is brew coffee and set the snacks they provide on tables just before the service ends. When coffee hour is over, simply make sure that everything is cleaned up and that the coffee pots are emptied out and washed out so they will be ready for other activities during the week and for the next week’s coffee hour.

To share this ministry of hospitality, we are asking that those who sign up for coffee hour provide simple fare, such as small snacks like cookies, fruit, and veggies.

If you have any questions, give us a call or drop us a note. A sign-up sheet is always available in the Parish Hall for those who wish to volunteer as coffee hour hosts.

Episcopal Church Women (ECW)

Christ Church is home to a very vibrant ECW group. Business meetings are held on the second Thursday of every month, and all women of the parish are welcome. While “in-reach” and outreach programs vary from year-to-year, recent efforts have included:

In-Parish Programs

Providing college scholarships for a graduating high school parishioner and camp scholarship for a young person in the parish. Purchasing prayer books for the Rite 13 program and oil candles for the Altar Guild,

Outreach Programs

Donations to the Haiti Relief Fund, Guilford Food Bank, Guilford Welfare Fund, and the National Cathedral. The ECW also participates in the United Thank Offering and White Envelope programs.

Newcomers Committee

The Christ Church Newcomers Committee provides a network for people new to the Parish.  The Committee follows-up on initial visits, respond to questions, and generally welcomes folks who are new to Christ Church.  Several times a year, the Committee hosts Rectory Brunches to help Newcomers become New Members. For more information, please contact the church office.

Table Fellowship at Christ Church

A gathering for food and fellowship appears almost every month in the Christ Church calendar.  Whether it’s the Youth Spaghetti (and special desserts) Dinner, a Rector’s Roast Beef Supper, a Potluck and Hymn Sing, Thanksgiving Day Rectory Reception, the Annual Meeting Brunch or the Chili Supper for Guilford’s Tree-Lighting on the Green, Christ Church parishioners enjoy gathering for good fellowship and good food.
